2015 Negative for Stocks, Election year better?
Some headlines from the year-end coverage of stock market results:
'The Dow Jones Industrial average finishes a disappointing year down 2.2%'
'U.S. stocks had their worst performance since 2008'
'Stocks enter New Year with hangover'
After a year like 2015, there is some evidence that the upcoming election year will be favorable for stocks. The S&P has tended to gain in 76% of presidential election years, versus 71% of all years since 1948 based on analysis from S&P Capital IQ.
Whatever 2016 brings, Fortress will remain on the watch for clients throughout the New Year.
